President/Vice President’s Report:

  • J L reported that it had been a busy couple of months for the club mainly focused on motor sport. Also that he had been posting some articles on several forums, one of them being Oz Car. Several motor sporting events were discussed; Eastern Creek where several cars sustained damage and the FOSC event at Bathurst over the Easter Weekend. Several points of note were:-

    • The FOSC event was an excellent meeting and enjoyed by all members from the club who attended. There is also an excellent write-up about the event on the club website.

    • There is another FOSC event scheduled for Easter 2011 and this will be again run at Mount Panorama, Bathurst. This year’s event was staged in partnership with the Porsche Car Clubs of Australia and it is feasible that the FOSC group will be looking for another partner to assist with the sponsorship of the 2011 event.

    • Also over these same dates in 2011 the Sydney Z Car Club is scheduled to run the Z Car Nationals at Wakefield Park in Goulburn, NSW. Ernie Mitchell is the organiser for the Z Car Nationals, and there has been a great deal of discussion regards the naming of the event and also its focus, not purely Z Cars but to include other vehicles from the Datsun and Nissan range.

    • There have been suggestions that the Z Car Club Nationals could be moved from Goulbourn to Bathurst in partnership with the FOSC group but this is unlikely to happen.

    • JL invited all the first time meeting attendees to introduce themselves and to advise what were they looking for from the club.

    • Bob Gordon (260Z), Mike Nisbet (350Z), Casey Tredinnick (260Z), Hayden Brammer (240Z & 260Z), Jeffrey Blakeley (?), Brett Mills (350Z) and Matt Ryeland (240Z) all accepted this invitation,

Membership Secretary’s report:

  • Membership Report
    • Currently there are 70 financial club members.
    • WG also requested permission to get another run of “Club Information Cards” printed. After brief discussion, committee executive agreed.

Treasurer’s Report:

  • Because John Gilbert was unable to attend PH informed the meeting about the current state of the club account.
  • General Account: - There is currently $11,032.48 in this account with on outstanding invoices.
  • JG has one new club membership to process.
  • JG also advised that he was in favour of employing an external webmaster.

Secretary’s Report:

  • There were no items or action since the last meeting to be reported.
  • PH informed the meeting that his main area of commitment over the last few months has been as the club’s main point of contact with the organising committee of the FOSC who hosted “The Way It Was” and “Regularity Festival” at Mount Panorama, Bathurst over the Easter Weekend.
  • Seven members of the Z Car Club of QLD attended this event as well as David Wilson from Newcastle who was a “wildcard” member of our group for the duration of the event. Unfortunately David Healy was unable to attend due to a slight mishap whilst returning from Morgan Park earlier in the year. He was greatly missed.

Business Arising:

  • Motor Sporting Events.
    • MM provided a brief update on the previous session of the “A” Series Super Sprints held at Morgan Park Raceway, Warwick.  http://www.morganparkraceway.com.au  At this session held on 17-18 April there were 12 Z Cars in attendance. The next session of the “A” Series is scheduled for the 19-20 June and all the new members were invited to come up to Warwick for a look see. Because both the “A” and “B” Super Sprints Series are both fully subscribed for this year the new members were advised that if they wanted to get involved in Super Sprints they could look at lodging an “Expression of Interest” in the QLD Super Sprint Championship and/or Australian Super Sprint Championships. Both of these events are scheduled for later in the year and both will be held at Morgan Park, Warwick.
  • Christmas in July
    • DR provided an update on the progress of the upcoming CIJ social event. Currently it is fully booked with 60 people attending the event, of those 54 are booked on the winery’s bus tour and 50 will be attending the Sunday lunch.
    • DR is advised that there is another social event scheduled (not by this club) the “All Japanese Day” at Banyo, on the 20 June. http://www.boostcruising.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=569375
  • Ongoing support and updating of Club website.
    • Dustin Marshall who has been doing a tremendous job of maintaining the club website has become over committed and time poor and has requested that the club committee look at other arrangements for the updating and maintenance of the website. There were several suggestions put forward on this matter and the resolution was a “Action Item” assigned to PH. The “Action Item” was that PH would obtain several quotes for the support and maintenance of the club website and the quotes would be presented to the Club’s Executive Committee.
  • Regards the recent discussion on Japanese Sports Option parts being eligible as dealer fitted parts for S30's.
    • The focus of this agenda item was that the club contract Alan Thomas to provide written information and evidence the purpose of getting improved parts approved for use in historic type motor sport events in Australia. After an extended period of discussion on this matter a Motion was raised by DM and seconded by DR and passed by the meeting that RGu is to send off a briefing note to Alan Thomas seeking his input and technical advice on this matter. It was also decided that an upper cost of $500.00 would be set on this “Action Item”.

  • Purchase a Gazebo for Club use
    • DR request permission to purchase a 6 x 3 metre collapsible gazebo, of an estimated cost between $300 and $400. Motion to proceed with this purchase, raised by RG and seconded by JL, passed.
